Stick With It

Stick With It

In life a countless number of things happened to us on a daily basis that causes us to think about throwing in the towel and giving up the pursuit of our passion. However I had to stop by today to encourage you to STICK WITH IT and to not give up on what you know you are destined for deep down inside.  The momentum that you are building during the fight for what you know is right will carry you across the finish line if you will STICK WITH IT!    For I once heard that motivation can get you started in a pursuit but it takes you STICKING WITH IT for at least 21 Days to build a HABIT!  So think about that the next time that you are on day 2 of your job pursuit, you are on date #3 with the new love of your life, you are on year 15 of marriage and you have been turned down 20 times for the promotion you’ve always wanted.  I need you to have STICK WITH IT playing on repeat in your head and for you to buckle down continuing to go after what you want!  As we close I have a story for you:

Last night my son’s basketball team BEASTMODE faced the toughest challenge of the season in the presence of a team of older players who were very athletic/talented!  When team BEASTMODE saw the opponents they were initially taken aback and needed a constant reminder from Coach K to STICK WITH IT!  I had to pause before the game started to just tell them to look at the other team and see them really good.  They looked and I said they are young men just like you so you don’t have to have any fear of them. You can/will compete with them tonight and if you will listen to me we will defeat them!  You see I’ve been telling them that anything worth having is not going to come to you but you are going to have to go get what you want!  The game went back and forth for a little while and we were down by 2 points at halftime. However after an impassioned speech at halftime about STICKING WITH IT, team BEASTMODE came out after halftime and played a great 3rd quarter that saw us take a 21-20 lead!  I had to remind the boys at this time to STICK WITH IT and believe that they could achieve the ultimate prize which for this particular situation was a WIN!  The game took a few more twist and turns but the boys were able to get through the difficulties coming out on top!  You see in “coaching” the boys I have to constantly remind them that life has several different challenges that are all working to make you better not bitter, that are working all together for your good and as long as you STICK WITH IT you will get the prize at the end of the journey!  So the moral of the story is you cannot allow any type of opponent to defeat, define or destroy your dream of attaining GREATNESS!
